“Ambers Book Cub is something that I can do for myself. I do a lot for my clients. I think I give my job 150% and I think everybody gets to a point where they have to have like a passion project or some sort of purpose and I think me sharing the books that helped me get to where I am […] is probably the best advice or best form of mentorship I could ever give to anyone.”

DSRPT.: What’s been your favorite piece of jewelry you’ve made?

Dylen: “I would say Coi Leray’s fish chain and pendant.”

DSRPT.: How did you get into the jewelry industry?

Dylen: “Well my family’s been in this industry for over 20 years so I just thought why not come into the business and show what I could do but I didn’t really want to come and do jewelry, I came to really accessorize the brand.”

DSRPT.: What’s something that most people don’t know about jewelry and being a jeweler?

Dylen: “What most people don’t know is that it’s really hard to be a jeweler. It’s a lot of steps and things in the process to even create a custom piece. It’s hard- for me it’s easy of course because my family has everything in-house and in one place but if you’re like a regular jeweler on the block, you really have to run everywhere to go get your stuff done, to get the wax, to get the gold…it’s a whole process really whenever you don’t have everything in-house.”

DSRPT.: Who’s been your favorite celebrity client ?

Dylen: “At the moment my favorite celebrity clients are “41”…they’re a new upcoming group in New York.”

DSRPT.: Give us 3 tips on getting to where you are now.

Dylen: “Consistency, Hard work and just be motivated, keep yourself motivated. If you’re not gonna be motivated and like what you do then you’re not gonna really want to continue, you’re gonna be forcing yourself to do it.”

DSRPT.: How did your mistakes along the way turn to lessons, how did your L’s turn into W’s?

Dylen: “I’m still brand new to this so I’m still learning honestly as I go. But the mistakes and L’s that I do take, I do definitely look back at and learn from and I don’t really look at them as L’s, I look at it as I was learning that process.”

DSRPT:. What do you think the future of becoming a business owner looks like?

Dylen: “It would kind of be easier depending on your mindset. Like the 1% type mindset then it’s going to be really easy for you to become a business person and make money and continue to grow in this new market.”

DSRPT.: What’s been your greatest achievement so far?

Dylen: “Making artwork for big artists or just collabing with BB Simon. He’s pretty huge in this Hip-Hop culture so us doing a collab with him and getting that done is kind of crazy and iconic. We made the first ever real diamond BB Belt with him and we dropped it at the convention center, Complexcon. That was honestly one of the most, best achievements that I’ve hit right now. Getting that collab in the books was really crazy.”

DSRPT.: What’s the importance of having a dedicated team to help run your company?

Dylen: “The importance of having the team is really just to make sure everybody is on the same page. Having the team is the best because if you don’t have a team to help you do all the production it’s really hard. You’re gonna have to be doing everything yourself… so having a team and the importance of it is really just to get stuff done and put out faster.”

DSRPT.: With being successful so young, what’s been some of your favorite parts?

Dylen: “I’m blessed to be born into the family that I was born into and to have the business and just everything that I have. I’m just blessed to have it and I’m grateful.”

DSRPT.: Give us a quick rundown on how the jewelry making process is.

Dylen: “Basically just start off of course with the design…then it goes to a CAD design. I do the 2D design like on photoshop, so it starts with photoshop then it goes to 3D rendering…then the next step would be the wax after you print it out, after the wax then it goes to casting which is the gold casting and the gold takes the form of that wax, so it melts the wax and it becomes that shape and after that then you polish it, clean it up and get it ready for diamond setting after the diamond setting then you polish, put it together and then it’s completely done.”

DSRPT.: What’s next for you, what can we expect?

Dylen: I’m glad that you asked that…my next move would be going into making music. I see the best of both worlds; selling jewelry to the artists and celebrities and then going to be stepping into their world.”

Quotes: “You really can’t trust every jeweler you go to.”

“We’re authentic and we like to stand behind our quality and our work.”

“People that love what they do don’t even retire because it’s not really a job for them. If they do what they love they’re gonna just keep doing it all their life….they don’t really categorize it as work, it’s just fun”

“Only 21 years old and I’m doing this”
